Three childhood friends meet again as adults. Jake Schram (Ben Stiller) is a Jewish rabbi and Brian Finn (Edward Norton) is a Catholic priest. They both find Anna Riley (Jenna Elfman) to have grown out of her tomboyish ways and become a desireable woman. Jake can marry, but Brian's vows don't allow him to marry. Jake thinks it is clear, then, for him to pursue a romantic relationship with Anna. But Anna and Brian find that there is more than a deep friendship between them and fall in love. This love triangle questions religious traditions and commitments as well as the commitments they have toward each other as friends.
